traveling at 680 miles per hour from los angeles
Tongva and Chumash lands
back home to Dallas
Comanche and Caddo territory
not sure how it is that traveling at 36,000 feet
helps me feel grounded
perhaps it’s the very purposeful, focused attention
of a pilot, airline, flight crew
not to mention all the other passengers
going from point a to point b
maybe it’s some of that
which gives me new energy and excitement
of course seeing Bilbo struggle in the borderlands
outside of his comfort zone in Hobbiton
last night on the big screen
doesn’t hurt also
reminds me of underworld journeys
personal and social transformation
facing, owning and integrating shadows of my own
but i digress, or not…
what i intend to acknowledge here is
my reemergence from the underworld of moving boxes
among other baggage
getting back to the ethnoautobiography book
nurturing the new connections
with ana, christine, fabio and their practices of decolonization
which also affirms and validates the path i am on
as well as writing proposals about ethnoautobiography
for two conferences next year
putting myself out there in the world
taking the risk, being vulnerable
moving along a path with care, attention, intention
gathering my life together
with all of those around me
sounds a bit like being on an airplane
