my trifecta made another appearance this incredible birthday weekend, as it came to me that three important lessons involve space, fluidity and embodiment. my experience of space (as i have come to learn) means coming-to-know about another’s perspective (STORY!) and making, acknowledging and integrating that into the story of my self. fluidity is quite simply (and very challengingly) the experience of knowing that my sense of who i am is certain to change. therefore, being embodied explicitly requires integrating all of these pieces into who we experience our selves as, which are larger than the boundaried self we are comfortable with. throughout my expression of this container for my self and my work (ie, this website!) the cave art handprint represents ‘other’: in this case space; the pictograph ‘party boat’ is a manifestation of fluidity; and, finally, the necklace rock carving is embodiment! this last realization particularly moves me because embodiment, in my experience, means being at home in my actual body, as well as the larger body that is the earth…
