so titled midsummer-ish because this post is closer to the autumnal equinox, and because they’re related to Shakespeare…

most of what i have to say is related to my experience(s) of my dear spouse Jenny in her Shakespeare at Winedale reunion performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream last weekend! that said, there are a few things worthy of sharing that relate to me and this work: first, all of their rehearsal work was done collaboratively (no primary director, self-initiated practice, etc.) which led to a truly embodied play with the actresses feeling real, in the moment, and it being really true to emotional expression. there is so much inspiration for embodied education and transformative learning. second, on the heals of that time together (as if it wasn’t enough!) we are going to see Brené Brown speak about her new book, Rising Strong. She’s been deeply influential for me in countless ways and I’ve shared on my facebook page the collage I made in her honor. Brené is about embodiment, vulnerability, and embodied performance; at least as far as I’m concerned. Third, I finally saw Inside Out today and was moved beyond words. The adaption and visualization of complex emotional processes was profound, insightful and deeply moving. I hope to share my reflections on the various expressions of emotionality in the brilliant film. Lastly, when I was in Windale with Jenny, I talked with a fellow actress who asked me about being a writer. I replied that lately I write headlines…
