I just had to put something out there in my world after getting forwarded an article about a Native proposal to change the name of “occupy” Oakland, California to Decolonize Oakland!
Certainly, I’m behind that idea completely, and while many are, I find the responses really interesting, shocking, typical, disappointing, etc. It reminds me of being called on my White privilege and unconscious racism. It reminds me of being called on my unconscious sexism, and so on.
I guess I need to get to work on my article and workshop on settlement privilege! Stay tuned!
