in recent weeks, i’ve been practically bombarded with inspiration, experience, and passion gathering around a quote from Boyhood filmmaker, Richard Linklater. when the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart asked about the unpredictability of filming over a twelve-year period (interview link below), Linklater replied that it was

“a collaboration with the unknown.”

since then it seems that i’ve been following that path (or maybe i’ve always been on it, but now i have a bit more awareness where i am!). accordingly, i’ve had numerous, almost countless, writing/performing/artistic visions. a few working titles are below…

conversations with creativity: ethnoautobiography as collaboration with spirit, and ceremonial performance

this is a possible direction i may go for a dialogue for an upcoming ReVision issue i am co-editing with Jürgen Kremer on ethnoautobiography, creativity, performance, spirituality, etc…

open to possibilities: non-monogamous relationships between embodiment,
sexuality & qualitative inquiry

wanting to make some explicit links between the openness of ‘alternative’ relationship styles and sexualities with collaborative and integrated qualitative inquiries…

breaking ourselves open ; or, living with gender fluidity and uncertainty

this germinated from interactions with family members after 2014’s coming out day, characterized by surprise, concern, and confusion, even amidst the unconditional love and support. there are particular lessons about living in a deeply conflicted western society, even showing up in ‘liberal’, ‘alternative’ families (shocker!!)…

eco (erotic) embodiment, or e-cubed!

after reading an inspiring and daring article Auto(erotic)ethnography (Blinne, 2012) in Sexualities, i’m feeling like connecting some ecology (a la Abram’s “sensuous earth”), the erotic (a la Bright’s “full exposure”, Griffin’s “eros of everyday life”, and Lorde’s “uses of the erotic”), and embodiment (a la Cohen’s “automatic presence”, and Shepherd’s “new self, new world”)

body of work: contain(ing) your self

this is an extension of my earlier inspiration around writing endearing words on bodies, what i called “embodying tenderness“. and i’ve had fabulous validation from out in the world, including this blog post called Exposed, and the awe-inspiring, brilliant, talented Amanda Palmer in her TED talk! all of this is pointing towards a gallery show…
