i really love synchronicities! they are connection and relationship! and they are touching (pun intended!) i had several internet windows open that i’d been meaning to look at, and finally did so. first, the body is not an apology with an article that somehow appeared in my fb feed, would you like a hug? the importance of asking before touching. since much of my work in somatics and Somatica® is about touch, this seemed like a good place to go. it was. then i went to look at the kickstarter page for my friend/teacher Yelizaveta who just had her campaign funded (yay!), our other bodies: interactive dance project.
i read back through some of the comments (yes, i was behind on that!), and she writes:
“My research has taken me on many trails and recently I stumbled upon Hands On Research: The Science of Touch by Dacher Keltner in which he articulates so well the significance of physical touch. Touch is the primary ‘language of compassion, and a primary means for spreading compassion.'”
‘…the science of touch convincingly suggests that we’re wired to—we need to—connect with other people on a basic physical level. To deny that is to deprive ourselves of some of life’s greatest joys and deepest comforts.'”
not too long ago i bought a book called Touch: The science of hand, heart, and mind…
