…for White people?

Had a marvelous time last night experiencing the R. Carlos Nakai trio perform here in Dallas. There are many things I take away, one of them having to do with how people introduce themselves. Nakai was noted for his Navajo-Ute ancestry. His collaborators on the other hand had no cultural introduction whatsoever. William Eaton & Will Clipman both had a long and respectable list of accomplishments. Nothing about their cultural identity, however. Is that because they don’t know? Is it uncommon or even strange for White people to have any cultural affiliation? Would it sound bizarre? What does it mean that they don’t? Does that affect the relationship as collaborators with R. Carlos Nakai? Just a few questions to accompany the soothing music and transformative message. I wonder who they are…
